We have been specialized in planning and networking for the Japanese market over the past 25 years in the world of film and HDTV.
Starting in the mid 1970's with a Toyota Car Commercial shot in British Columbia, Martin Yokota, then, a partner in Skyland Tours Ltd., began to take over the requests for production services in the mid 1970's . With demand, Skyland Canadian Film Co-ordinating Services was founded, catering exclusively to film production requests from Japan. With the increase in more complex and diverse projects, Martin created his own entity in 1989 and formed skyland pla-net - an all-purpose multi-media production company that provides creative Planning Networks.
Over the years, our company has grown into various areas of the film and video world. Starting with production co-ordination in Canadian locations for commercials , TV documentaries and magazine shoots , our company expanded in the late 80's to line-producing and production managing HDTV projects throughout North America. This started Vision Unlimited, a division of the company, which served the special needs for HDTV. Vision Unlimited became a key figure in the production of programs for the HDTV Japanese market, the only place in the world that was live broadcasting at that time.
Our credibility grew in the 1990's as a superior production service company. Along with growth, came the diversification in locations. Now from the mountains of Nepal, to the running rivers of Chile, to the high Canadian Arctic, our team has been there. Although commercial clients have been essential to our portfolio over the past several years, each year we are increasingly involved in a number of high quality TV documentaries. One such documentary program co-produced with CR Nexus in Japan won the prestigious Japanese Grand Prix award for the "Best Documentary of the Year in 1999".
We continue to expand our horizons and take our clients on exhilarating adventures. From the beginnings of HDTV to the new era of 3DHD, we have been there. In 2010, our company was a key player in showing the world the first 3DHD presentation of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games with Panasonic, at their 3D Theater during the games.
The future holds no limits and further exploration for us. Discovery and new challenges are what our team lives for and we are always eager to conquer another part of our vast universe.
